Christmas, Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, Easter and the 4th of July will be the most widely celebrated holidays this year, with an average of 80% of US consumers planning to celebrate. New Year’s Eve, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day and Halloween are the next most popular.

What will consumers buy for 2024 holiday celebrations?
Nearly all consumers say they’ll buy various items for their holiday celebrations this year. Food and alcohol are the top two products shoppers plan to purchase across holidays, followed by candy and gifts for select holidays.

Grocery stores and big box stores are the top two locations consumers plan to shop for all major holidays, with food-focused holidays leaning grocery and gift-focused holidays leaning towards big box stores or online retailers.

How much will shoppers spend on their 2024 holiday celebrations?
Most holiday shoppers say they’ll spend over $50 on their celebrations. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas are the holidays with the highest expected spend, with 80% of shoppers planning to spend $100+ on Christmas.
